Focus On This One Loke Says When Quizzed Over Resignation Call

DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke deflected questions on whether his party's ministers will resign over the “no further action” (NFA) granted in Teoh Beng Hock’s case.

On Sunday (May 25), the Teoh Beng Hock Association for Democratic Advancement called for DAP’s five ministers to resign in protest over the Attorney-General’s Chambers classifying Teoh’s death as NFA.
The five ministers - Loke, Gobind Singh Deo, Nga Kor Ming, Steven Sim and Hannah Yeoh - should take responsibility for their party failing to fulfil promises to seek justice for Teoh, association chairperson Ng Yap Hwa said.
On Thursday (May 22), lawyer Ramkarpal Singh, who is also a DAP MP and Gobind’s brother, questioned the AGC’s decision, stressing that it had failed to inform Teoh’s family directly, with the matter instead being relayed by the police.
Bukit Aman’s Criminal Investigation Department had written to Ramkarpal on May 20 to inform him of the AGC’s decision, which police said was determined on May 19.
No cabinet reshuffle
When asked about the possibility of a cabinet reshuffle, Loke (above) indicated that Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has not informed him of any such move.
“I met with the prime minister just now at 2pm. That’s why I was late.
“I have not been informed of any ministerial changes. He said the transport minister remains,” Loke said.
Yesterday, Rafizi Ramli tendered his resignation as the economy minister.
Hours later, Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad resigned from his post as the natural resources and environmental sustainability minister.
This comes after their defeat at the PKR polls, with Rafizi losing the deputy presidency and Nik Nazmi being bumped off the vice-presidents quartet.
This was despite Anwar, who is the PKR president, saying before the polls that he would not reshuffle the cabinet based on who won or lost. - Mkini
