Flaming Truck On Putrajaya Highway Netizens Cheekily Suggest It S Local Version Of Ghost Rider
A LORRY engulfed in flames was seen rolling to its fiery end at KM38 of the Putrajaya-Cyberjaya Expressway on Monday (Jan 13).
As reported by Buletin TV3 on X, the cause of the fire was purportedly from an over-heated engine but nobody was seriously hurt in the incident.
Sepang Police Chief Asst Commissioner Norhizam Bahaman said the incident reportedly occurred at about 6.30pm when a male driver was travelling from Dengkil to Puchong in an Inokom lorry.
Upon arriving at KM38, the driver noticed smoke coming from the engine before trying to stop the vehicle on the side of the road but did not manage to do so as the e fire was getting bigger.
“Following the incident, the driver jumped out and the lorry continued to move on its own on the road,” Norhizam related in a statement.
“The complainant only suffered minor injuries after jumping out while the lorry he was driving was burnt to the ground,”
Norhizam further revealed that the driver involved informed the lorry owner about the incident, before being instructed to file a police report. He said that the lorry owner did not want to make an insurance claim because the claim value was not high.

The post which has been viewed 786.9K times at time of publication elicited plenty of comments, not least many commenters deemed this as the Malaysian version of Marvel superhero – Ghost Rider.
It was contended that the economic situation is so tough that even Ghost Rider had to seek out a second job as a lorry driver.
This sentiment was echoed by another netizen who reckoned that the Ghost Rider had to moonlight as a delivery driver at night.
Some observed that a lorry was less cool than the Ghost Rider’s usual means of transport which was a bike with a throaty roar. Perhaps the bike had been compounded by JPJ (Road Transport Department), some surmised.
With one wondering if a new Ghost Rider movie was being filmed in Malaysia.
One commenter highlighted the recent spate of news involving trucks and lorries that ranged from burst tyres to overloaded vehicles. Now this flaming episode which begs the question as to the road-worthiness of these vehicles.
One argued that such incidents were proof of JPJ not doing its job properly. Instead of roadblocks targetting motorcyclists, they should also check on the road-worthiness of these lorries.
One sarcastically asked how such a vehicle could be passed road worthy by PUSPAKOM (Computerised Vehicle Inspection Centre).
Inevitably, this incident was also used to hammer Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook for seemingly being keener on selling fancy, customised number plates than enforcing the law.
One further added that this was the consequence of those who illegally modify their number plates, causing over-heating of the engine brought about by “burning hearts” who are unhappy at this unauthorised mod.
To which one netizen concluded that the “Malaysian Ghost Rider will continue to double up as a lorry driver while awaiting the Transport Minister to announce the highest bidder for his lorry’s number plate”.
