(Bernama pic)KUALA LUMPUR: At least five new recreational parks are expected to be completed in Selangor by the end of this year in several locations including Sepang and Kuala Langat, state executive councillor Ng Suee Lim said
Ng, who is responsible for local government and tourism affairs, said he was confident that between three and five parks could be completed. “I believe the local authorities are already alert to the implementation of these parks,” he said at the Matta tourism fair here.
He said the recreational parks will be equipped with various facilities, including WiFi access.
Ng launched 88 exhibitions at the fair as part of Selangor’s campaign to attract eight million tourists during Visit Selangor Year 2025.
Tourism Selangor chief executive Chua Yee Ling said the parks initiative was part of the state government’s focus on promoting eco-tourism and agro-tourism in Selangor.
She said tourist arrivals in Selangor had reached 4.14 million so far, or 51% of the year’s target, with promotional efforts focused on areas such as Sabak Bernam and Kuala Selangor.
“We are also promoting packages under the Gombak-Hulu Langat Geopark, such as Batu Caves and Gua Damai. In the Hulu Selangor area, we have activities like paragliding and white-water rafting,” she added.
Tourism Selangor launched special stamps for the Visit Selangor campaign, and a unique ceramic collection by Bangkita Ceramic Studio, owned by a Selangor native, which was specially brought in from Kuala Langat. - FMT
