Finas Chairperson Launches Flood Rescue Theme Song Kita Di Sisimu
National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (Finas) chairperson Zakaria Abdul Hamid has commended the efforts of celebrities and local artists to launch a flood rescue theme song.
The song, titled "Kita Di Sisimu" (Together As One) was incepted to encourage Malaysians to come together in the spirit of ‘Keluarga Malaysia’ to aid victims that were affected by the recent flooding.
“As one of the government’s leading creative content bodies who were present at the sites to help those affected by the flood disaster, Finas supports efforts and intentions such as this, because its boosts morale amid various calamities that the country faces.
“I also believe that entertainment takes the form of motivation that can instil enthusiasm into the people and inspire future volunteers.
“I hope that creative content publishers or content creators in Malaysia can follow in the footsteps of these celebrities in taking part in CSR similar activities, so that this practice can be applied widely, especially among youths,” Zakaria (above) said during the song’s launch at Mega Star Arena, Cheras yesterday.
Yesterday, joint group Rescue Union celebrated the launch Kita Di Sisimu that was produced by actor Lenny Ooi and featured over 15 Chinese, Malay, and Indian celebrities and artists — aimed at inspiring multi-racial harmony.
Come together
Among those featured on the song were radio host Jack Lim, model Sunshine Aileen Devi Eric, actors Jack Lim and Billy Ng, among others.
Rescue Union said the song sought to urge flood victims to not give up and push through the challenges, reminding them that after “every storm, comes a rainbow”.
At the same time, it is meant to encourage the rakyat to come together as one to help the flood victims recover from this disaster — be it through monetary contributions or voluntary work.
Its music video featured clips of flood victims as well as the featured artistes volunteering to clean the flooded areas.
Alleviate burden
Rescue Union founder said that even though floods have receded in some locations, there were many victims who continue to suffer from the after-effects of the natural disaster.
“I hope that through this initiative, we can alleviate the burden of flood victims and help them to rehabilitate homes affected by the flood disaster,” he said.
Founded by two NGOs - Worldwide Wellness Club (WWC) and Malaysia Ecological Civilization Communication Centre (MECCC), Rescue Union is jointly made up of more than 30 NGOs and associations, as well as nearly 300 volunteers. - Mkini
