Farhash Welcomes Timely Postponement Of Pkr Congress

Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak, who was defeated in a PKR divisional race, complained of 28,000 missing votes at the party elections.PETALING JAYA: A former PKR leader who previously questioned the party’s election results has welcomed the decision to postpone the congress, initially scheduled to be held later this month, for a forensic audit to be carried out.
Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak said a thorough investigation will be able to determine if any electoral fraud – concerns which he had raised previously – had taken place, and stern action could be taken against the culprits.
He had claimed recently that nearly 28,000 votes had gone “missing” during the party elections. PKR election committee chairman Dr Zaliha Mustafa said later the party was open to conducting a forensic audit.
“I think the decision by the election committee is apt and timely. We hope for some justice. We will also be getting a full report on whether there was indeed some form of cheating,” he told FMT.
The PKR congress scheduled for June 24-26 in Shah Alam has been postponed to July 15-17.
PKR central committee member Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid said the election committee agreed to postpone the congress to look into the complaints over the recent party polls and also for a forensic audit to be carried out on the results.
Farhash, a former aide to Anwar Ibrahim, also noted that the election committee had received more than 900 complaints and that the results of several of the 222 divisional contests were under protest.
On May 29, Farhash demanded for a forensic audit to be carried out citing discrepancies between the number of ballots tallied and that of voters in the Gombak division.
The race for the Gombak PKR division head’s post saw Farhash taking on Selangor PKR chief Amirudin Shari, who is also the menteri besar.
Amirudin garnered 1,626 votes against the former Perak PKR chief’s 1,166 votes. - FMT
