(Bernama pic)PETALING JAYA: Former top cop Amar Singh has denied Raja Petra Kamarudin’s claim that Amar’s girlfriend was present at a raid on Najib Razak’s home in May 2018 and had left with one of the bags seized by the police.
The former director of Bukit Aman’s commercial crime investigation department (CCID) said he will be filing a police report against Raja Petra, after the controversial blogger, also known as RPK, made the allegations in his Malaysia Today portal.
Describing the swoop on the former prime minister’s house as the “biggest raid in the police’s history”, Amar said detailed records were made of what the police seized and that no civilian woman was there or was any item removed.
In a statement, he pointed out that the raid was conducted jointly with several deputy and assistant directors of the police force, as well as about 70 officers from various departments like the CCID, CID and special actions unit (UTK).

He said he had intentionally set up the raiding team to comprise personnel from different departments to prevent false allegations being made in the future.
“There is just no way anything can go through this team without anyone noticing. Moreover, this team just met on the day of the raid. There is, therefore, no possibility of any conspiracy to cover up.
“Additionally, the whole raiding process was photographed and videos were recorded from the beginning to the end of the raid by an independent team from the CID. These photographs and videos are still in the safekeeping of the CID.
“There is just no way a civilian could have avoided these cameras and videos without anyone realising, unless this person has ‘ilmu ghaib’ (black magic) and is invisible,” he jibed.
Amar also said the building raided had more than 100 CCTV cameras and more than 50 reporters were gathered at the lobby, adding that this was the only exit at the time.
“None of the reporters saw a civilian lady walking out from the raid, that too with a large suitcase as alleged. Clearly the allegations by Raja Petra are totally false,” he said.
He said other senior officers will also be lodging police reports against Raja Petra over the allegations.
Amar also denied claims he had migrated to Canada, telling the blogger that he was “still here in Malaysia, (which) will be my country until I die”.
Amar had led raids on premises linked to Najib after Barisan Nasional’s loss at the 14th general election in May 2018. He had said RM116.7 million in cash was found in the 35 bags taken from the premises.
