Ex Mbi Coo Arrested Remanded Again Says Azam

(FMT) : A former chief operating officer for Menteri Besar Selangor Incorporated (MBI) was again arrested and remanded by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission in its investigation into projects involving the state government body.
MACC chief Azam Baki said a magistrate issued a seven-day remand order, but did not specify which magistrate.
Azam said the former COO had been remanded for a day after he was arrested previously.
“But we arrested him again today and obtained a remand order,” he told reporters.
He also said MACC will be looking into 20 projects involving MBI after receiving information that some people involved in these projects were bribed.
He refused to identify the projects involved.
Asked whether the projects are linked to current menteri besar Amirudin Shari, Azam said: “So far, no.”
Azam also said RM600,000 was recovered during a search by MACC at premises linked to the investigation.
On Oct 14, it was reported that MACC uncovered “safe houses” where foreign and local currencies were found.
Azam said they believe the money is linked to a politician whom the anti-graft agency suspects is connected to its investigation, conducted under the MACC Act 2009 and the Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorism Financing Act 2001.
“We are also looking into five companies whose shareholders include several individuals, including the politician,” he said.
To date, 18 individuals have been called in to have their statements taken.
“My officers will continue to call more witnesses. Most of them have worked with MBI previously and some are from the private sector,”
he said.
He declined to name the politician but said he would reveal their identity later.
