Ex Activist Khalid To Answer Domestic Abuse Allegations In Court
After being charged in court last month for allegedly abusing his spouse, former activist Khalid Mohd Ismath said he will answer all allegations in court to avoid subjudice.
In a Facebook post this evening, Khalid (above) said he had chosen to defend himself against all allegations made by his wife in court.
“I leave it to the court to adjudicate this case. The case has only been mentioned for the first time.
“I hope that all parties can respect the court processes - which I am confident will be fair to me,” the former student activist said.
On May 11, Khalid’s wife posted on Twitter that the former had allegedly abused her. She claimed he had sexually and mentally abused her throughout their marriage and “disturbed” her colleague.
The following day, Kuala Langat district police chief Ahmad Ridhwan Mohd Nor confirmed that Khalid had been charged in court last month and the case is still pending in court.
He added that the police received a report from Khalid’s wife on April 15, prompting an investigation under Section 23 of the Penal Code and Section 18A of the Domestic Violence Act 1994.
Meanwhile, Khalid revealed that he had been hit by threats from his friends and netizens since his wife made the allegations.
“I forgive all threats made by them.
“I would also like to apologise to any parties who are dissatisfied with my actions and words. I accept their criticisms and condemnations with an open heart.” - Mkini
