Enhanced Mco In Parts Of Klang Valley What You Can And Cannot Do
The government today announced that several parts of the Klang Valley will be put under an enhanced movement control order (MCO).
Conventionally, an enhanced MCO puts a blanket ban on all movements, confining residents to their homes.
However, the just-announced enhanced MCO for parts of the Klang Valley will be slightly more lenient.
A total of 34 sub-districts in Selangor including Cheras, Kajang, Sepang, Rawang, and Klang are affected as well as 14 localities in Kuala Lumpur. The full list of affected areas is available here.
The enhanced MCO will take effect on Saturday (July 3) and last until July 16.
Here's what you can and cannot do, as well as what to expect when the enhanced MCO comes into effect:
1. All routes in and out of affected areas will be sealed and guarded by the police.
2. All residents must stay at home but one representative per household will be allowed out to purchase essential goods.
3. This family member may not travel beyond a 10km radius or leave the enhanced MCO area, whichever is shorter.
4. An exemption will be made for those going for vaccination to travel across districts or states. They must show proof of their appointments.
5. Residents are not allowed to leave their homes after 8pm except for emergencies or with police permission.
6. Eateries will operate from 8am to 8pm (no dine-in).
7. No sports, social or recreational activities are allowed.
8. Only those in essential services or on official government duty may go to work, subject to approval letters.
9. Essential services such as utilities, sanitation and sewage will operate from 8am to 8pm.
10. Those not in essential services are not allowed to leave their homes or enhanced MCO areas for work. They must work from home.
11. The approval letter to work issued by the International Trade and Industry Ministry will only be valid for those in the essential services.
12. Factories producing essential goods such as rice, bread, sugar, cooking oil, flour, milk, medicine, and face masks may operate.
13. Airports and ports will still be allowed to operate while public transport will operate at a 50 percent capacity.
14. Taxi and e-hailing vehicles are limited to one passenger per vehicle.
15. Grocery, convenience stores, pharmacies and veterinarians will be allowed to operate from 8am to 8pm.
16. Petrol stations will operate from 6am to 8pm except for those along highways which will be allowed to run for 24 hours.
17. Wholesale markets will still be allowed to operate from 12am to 6pm.
18. Public markets and farmers' markets will operate from 6am to 2pm. - Mkini
