KL : Employers in three states said not ready for minimum wage RM1,700In Utusan Malaysia today, employers in Perlis, K'tan, Sabah said slow economic growth did not allow them to absorb RM200 increasethe states were small, cost of living lowin Sabah cost of raw materials lot higher than PeninsularPerlis Chinese Chamber of Commerce chairman Koay Chee Khoon said  employees across various sectors only SPMbig burden to employers especially in Perlisminimum wage RM1,500 quite difficult on themnew policy causing them more costswould they be able to pay the minimum wage?Koay said increase in wages cause prices of goods to go upincrease risk companies lay off workers to cut costsminimum wage only suitable in KL and SelangorMeanwhile, Malay Chamber of Commerce Kelantan treasurer said  minimum wage RM1,700 should not be implemented in K'tan as the cost of living there was low.if new minimum wage implemented SMEs in Kelantan would not thriveMeanwhile, Sabah Chamber of Commerce president said  business owners in Sabah struggling with high cost of raw materialslogistics expenses, increased minimum wage traders face challenges to sustain their businessin Sabah, minimum wage of RM1,700 too highincrease in minimum wage quite drasticstarting from RM1,000 to RM1,200 now RM1,700 
My Comments : Today we saw that an E--n Save store near our house has closed down. That store had been there for many years. Another baby store put up a sign saying 'Jualan Tutup Kedai'.

Yesterday the Deputy Minister of HR said 300,000 people have lost their jobs since 2020.
The SOCSO fellows said that between Jan - Sept 2024  there were 575,044 job seekers. However there were only 125,956 vacancies over the same period.
During difficult times like these the gomen should help to save businesses. 
If businesses shut down there will be MORE job losses.
This is not a chicken and egg situation.Its like this - if businesses close down, there will be no more jobs.

Postpone the Minimum Wage policies by FIVE YEARS.
If you dont postpone it I foresee more businesses shutting down. When that happens unemployment will shoot up. When businesses shut down, the gomen's tax collection will also decrease. This means the gomen will have to borrow more money. This means the gomen's deficit will increase. This also means the gomen will lose the elections. The gomen will get kicked out. Dont say I did not tell you.Perikatan Nasional especially Bersatu please take note.This is why YOU also lost the elections.These are the same failed policies you implemented.
