Emco In Two Johor Sarawak Villages

The enhanced movement control order (MCO) will be implemented in Felda Kahang Timur, Kluang, Johor and Kampung Bako Hilir, Kuching, Sarawak from May 12 to May 25, said senior minister (security cluster) Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
Ismail Sabri said the Health Ministry (MOH) reported a rise in the number of cases with high infectivity rate in the two localities.
“The EMCO needed to be implemented in Felda Kahang Timur so that greater control and preventive measures could be taken, thus all high-risk activities were suspended.
“This EMCO is to facilitate the MOH to make early detection of cases and prevent the spread of COVID 19 infection to other areas outside the locality,” he said in a statement on the development of the MCO today.
Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri said Hulu Besut in the Besut district, Terengganu would be placed under MCO from tomorrow ( May 11) until May 20.
He said the EMCO enforced in Felda Umas, Kalabakan, Sabah scheduled to end tomorrow would be extended until May 25, after MOH reported that there was still a continued spread of Covid-19 in the area and they were awaiting results of the screening samples.
Ismail Sabri also said the EMCO in Maahad Tahfiz Al-Azhari (MTAZ), Machang in Kelantan and Kampung Bangkahulu, Gemas in Negeri Sembilan ended today, ahead of schedule.
The EMCO, scheduled to end on May 12, was terminated today after MOH reported the decrease in cases and the cluster was under control where the last case was recorded on May 4, he said.
Ismail Sabri said the EMCO at the People’s Housing Project (PPR) Batu 2 Lorong Habib Abdul Rahman, PPR Batu 8 Jalan Apas, Tawau, Sabah as well as at Abedon Complex (Bumiwealth, Kolopis & Tanaki), Kinabatangan, Sabah would end tomorrow as scheduled.
Meanwhile in Sarawak, the EMCO at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Ulu Balingian, Sibu would also end tomorrow according to schedule.
On the compliance of the standard operating procedure (SOP), Ismail Sabri said 460 individuals were arrested for flouting the SOP yesterday of which 456 were fined and four remanded.
On Op Benteng, 20 illegal immigrants were detained and one land vehicle was seized, he added.
