Eight Nabbed At Party In Johor Bahru Homestay

Police arrested six men and two women for attending a party at a homestay in Johor Bahru during the movement control order early yesterday morning
Johor police chief Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay (above) said the local partygoers, aged between 24 and 31, were picked up in a raid at 12.30am by a Johor contingent police Narcotics CID team
Also seized in the raid, he said, were drugs believed to be ketamine weighing 13.50 grammes, eight Erimin 5 pills and three litres of ketum drink
According to him, a search showed five of the six men have previous records relating to crimes and drugs
"An initial investigation found all suspects were from other places as they were not occupants of the premises and they could not furnish any reasonable excuse for the gathering,” Ayob Khan said in a statement
He said urine tests found one male suspect positive for ketamine
Ayob Khan said the group would be remanded for three days from yesterday and the case would be investigated under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, Section 30(3) of the Poisons Act 1952 and Regulation 11 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures Within Infected Local Areas) Regulations 2020
The suspect found positive for drug would be investigated under Section 15 (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952
In another case, Ayob Khan said, police arrested three local men and a Singaporean male and confiscated drugs in a raid in Johor Bahru yesterday
In the raid at a house in Taman Mutiara Rini at 5pm, the four suspects aged between 24 and 34 were nabbed
Ayob Khan said police seized 551.97 grammes of ecstasy powder, 450 Erimin 5 pills, 40.64 grammes of heroin, 18.44 grammes of syabu worth about RM66,727 and confiscated four vehicles valued at RM250,000 as well as RM2,640 and 200 Singapore dollars in cash
According to him, all suspects were found positive for methamphetamine and three of them have previous criminal and drug records
The suspects have been remanded for seven days from yesterday and the case would be investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Regulation 11 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures Within Infected Local Areas) Regulations 2020, Ayob Khan added
