Mahathir said any decision on the Cabinet reshuffle would depend on the agreement of all parties in the Pakatan Harapan coalition
“People can express their opinion but I will decide if it is agreed to by the five parties forming the coalition,” he told reporters after officiating the soft launch of the Kuala Lumpur Summit 2019 here today
Yesterday, Mahathir announced that he was considering a Cabinet reshuffle following a post-mortem on the coalition’s heavy defeat in the Nov 16 Tanjung Piai by-election
The prime minister said it could happen before the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) summit next year, but added that a reshuffle would not solve all of the government’s problems
PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, in voicing support for a reshuffle, had said Lim should be the first to go
Asked about his meeting with Anwar Ibrahim earlier today, Mahathir said the PKR president agreed that suggestions for a date on the change of power could cause tension and should be avoided
Under a deal struck by the PH leadership after the coalition took over Putrajaya last year, Anwar is to succeed Mahathir as prime minister at an unspecified date

Earlier this month, Mahathir pledged to step down as prime minister before the next general election. - FMT
