Cuepacs president Adnan Mat said civil servants were impartial and carried out their duties lawfully and professionally. (Bernama pic)PETALING JAYA: Cuepacs has said it is unprofessional for politicians to attack civil servants, after a PKR leader declared that Pakatan Harapan (PH) would hunt top graft buster Azam Baki should the coalition come to power.
President Adnan Mat also said such threats were uncalled for.
“We understand that some politicians can’t control their emotions when campaigning, especially when they are standing before thousands of their supporters.
“But that does not give them the right to attack or threaten civil servants openly,” he said in a statement.
PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli was quoted by the media as saying that PH would go after the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief for alleged “political persecution” in raiding his company, Invoke Solutions Sdn Bhd.
Adnan said the MACC had never revealed anything about the raids and that the public only found out about it after Rafizi had mentioned it.
Azam has since denied that MACC had raided Invoke Solutions’ office, telling The Vibes that “we just came by with three or four officers, interviewed the staff and took some related financial documents and left.”
Adnan said civil servants were impartial and carried out their duties lawfully and professionally.
“Therefore, politicians should refrain from attacking them in their campaigns.”
Rafizi was also criticised by Bersatu deputy president, Ahmad Faizal Azumu, who said it showed that PH was prepared to abuse their powers should it become the government - FMT
