Sabah chief minister Hajiji Noor said GRS will defend all the seats it currently holds in the upcoming state election, which must be held by October.
PETALING JAYA: Sabah chief minister and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah chairman Hajiji Noor has voiced his opposition to state Pakatan Harapan leaders contesting seats currently held by GRS component parties in the upcoming state election.
Last week, Sabah PKR chairman Mustapha Sakmud said he was interested in contesting the Tempasuk state seat.
Tempasuk is currently held by Gagasan Rakyat’s Arsad Bistari, who is among the assemblymen considered for renomination by Gagasan Rakyat to defend their seats under the GRS banner.
“I’ve heard about that, too, but sometimes, that’s how politicians are,” Hajiji said in a Berita Harian report.
“They don’t realise that the seat belongs to someone else. Is it wrong for me to say that we should defend the seats we hold? Think about it.
“Don’t take someone else’s seat. How can we cooperate then, right? I’m not interfering with others; I’m just organising my own party.”
Hajiji also said GRS would defend all the seats it currently holds in the upcoming state election, which must be held by October.
“We will put forward candidates who we think will win,” he said.
Responding to a question about the distribution of seats, Hajiji said discussions will first be held with GRS component parties before involving partners in the current government, namely, Pakatan Harapan Plus.
Sabah PH previously said it intends to resolve all seat negotiations internally first before holding talks with other parties on proposed electoral alliances. - FMT
