Don T Dream About Kelantan Ising Selangor Bn Leader Warns Pn
Umno-BN has warned Perikatan Nasional (PN) to not ever dream about “Kelantan-ising” Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, and Penang.
According to BN strategic communication director Ahmad Shabery Cheek, such attempts would pose a danger to the three developed states.
“We (Umno/BN) have a history of developing Selangor and Pakatan Harapan has also shown remarkable achievement in advancing the state.
“But now a coalition named PN, which comprises Bersatu and PAS, wants to change Selangor and wants to further develop the state.
“I have only one message for them. I hail from Terengganu, which neighbours Kelantan. Both the states are administered by PAS, and I’d say don’t ever dream about ‘Kelantan-ising’ Selangor. It’s dangerous,” Shabery said.
He was giving a speech at the launching of the Harapan-BN election machinery in Bangi, Selangor last night.
Elaborating, Shabery, who is also an Umno supreme council member, said as someone who comes from Terengganu, he has seen firsthand how backward the state is.
“Look at the water issue plaguing Kelantan. They (PAS) can’t even solve that, but they want to develop Selangor.
“Kelantanese and those from Terengganu are coming to Selangor to work or make a living. So, how can you claim that PN can bring about change?” he asked.
“Bring changes to Kelantan and Terengganu first, and then we will see about Selangor.”
‘Selangor-ise Kelantan instead’
Shabery further urged voters, especially youngsters hailing from states administered by PAS, to give up on the Islamist party if they want to enjoy the development akin to Selangor.
“If we want to ‘develop’ PN, let’s ‘Selangor-ise’ Kelantan, Terengganu, and Kedah instead.”
Citing the numbers gathered at the event, Shabery said parties from the coalition government stand a bright chance of winning the state elections, which he dubbed as a crucial event.
“I suggest those who claim that the coming elections can threaten the position of the coalition government; they can pass out seeing the turnout (crowd),” he quipped.
The launch was led by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, his deputy Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, caretaker Selangor menteri besar Amirudin Shari, and Selangor Umno chief Megat Zulkarnain Omardin.
Six states will go to the polls on Aug 12 - Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Penang, Kelantan, Terengganu, and Kedah. The former three are led by Harapan/BN, while the latter by PAS. - Mkini
