Digitising Syariah System To Uphold Women S Rights Deputy Minister
PARLIAMENT | The government, through the Syariah Judiciary Department (SJD), has implemented various initiatives aimed at safeguarding and upholding women’s rights and interests.
Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Zulkifli Hasan said such initiatives focused on community advocacy and modernisation of the syariah judicial system.
He said they included the Syariah Law Literacy and Carnival Programme, Suluh Community and Rakan Suluh Community, and the Convention on Women’s Property and Law, among others.
“Recently, under the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), the Cakna Syariah Lestari Madani programme will implement the National Syariah Legal Literacy Plan, designed to deepen public understanding of syariah law and its application in daily life.
ADS“In addition, the Online Legal Clinic (OLC) programme is held monthly in collaboration with the Federal Territory Women’s Development Office and the Women, Family, and Community Development Ministry.
“This programme is conducted online through SJD and FTWDO’s official Facebook and YouTube platforms,” Zulkifli said in response to Syahredzan Johan (Harapan-Bangi) during Question Time today.

Syahredzan Johan (Harapan-Bangi)He said the online programme also comprises an e-consultation service platform for viewers of the OLC, offering online advisory and counselling services on syariah legal matters.
Zulkifli went on to list a series of initiatives under the e-syariah System:
e-Syariah Mobile Application - Available on Apple App Store, Google Play Store, and Huawei Apps Gallery. Anyone can register and check the status of maintenance, divorce, child custody, and matrimonial property cases independently without having to attend court in person.
e-Nafkah Module - Enables systematic monitoring of family maintenance cases to ensure compliance with court orders. It allows users to review maintenance status and payments, and to execute orders online.
Self-Service Syariah Case Pre-Registration - Provides individuals with the ability to register cases independently.
Use of Remote Communication Technology - Allowed under the Syariah Court Civil Procedure Rules, enabling parties to attend court proceedings virtually without being physically present.
To a supplementary question from Syahredzan on efforts to publicise the available initiatives, Zulkifli reaffirmed that the campaign involves multiple agencies, including TV AlHijrah, the Institute of Islamic Understanding Malaysia, and the Islamic Development Department, through a range of innovative and accessible programmes. - Mkini
