Dewan Negara Receives Notice Of Motion To Discuss Mysejahtera Issue
Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin asked the Speaker of the Dewan Negara to allow a motion on the MySejahtera issue to be debated in the Senate sitting this Thursday. - BERNAMA PICKUALA LUMPUR: The Dewan Negara has received a notice for a motion related to the MySejahtera application to be debated by members of the upper house of Parliament.
Senate President Tan Sri Dr Rais Yatim said the notice was received from a senator.
"I have just received a notice from one of the senators to debate the issue and it will likely be made on Thursday.
"Indeed, I have allowed the issue to be debated but it is not official yet," he told BH today.
Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin during a working visit to the Port Dickson Hospital, earlier today asked the Speaker of the Dewan Negara to allow a motion on the MySejahtera issue to be debated in the Senate sitting this Thursday.
He said it was a follow-up to the misunderstandings involving the application.
Rais said his office has contacted the Health Minister so that he can answer, explain and provide an official narrative on the issue.
"It is related to the news involving the sale of MySejahtera, as the issue has spread, we in the Dewan Negara cannot remain silent," he said.
Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Sunday raised several questions on the decision to sell the MySejahtera application to a private company.
He said the move raised concerns about the management of personal data and the possibility of misuse of the health information of millions of Malaysians.
Following Anwar's statement, Khairy denied that the Health Ministry (MoH) had sold the app to a private company and assured that the data obtained would be supervised by the ministry. - NST
