Dap Blaming High Expectations Media For Failure To Deliver Says Dr Wee
KUALA LUMPUR: The DAP is blaming the people’s high expectations and the media for its failure to deliver on several issues as part of the Pakatan Harapan government, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong (pic).
The MCA president said these issues included the government’s approval for Lynas to continue operating, the teaching of khat in Chinese primary schools and non-recognition of the Unified Certificate of Examination (UEC).
Dr Wee noted that DAP was the most vocal in calling for the shutdown of Lynas prior to winning the 14th General Election and had also promised to recognise UEC once Pakatan Harapan became the government.
“Who made all these promises to the people?” Dr Wee asked in a Facebook post Wednesday (Aug 21).
He also chided the DAP for blaming the media.
“Do you (DAP) want the media to say there is no need to honour promises made to the people?” Dr Wee asked.
He said it was the DAP that promised the people it would be a check-and-balance within the government in return for public support in GE14.
“The DAP has 42 MPs and six Cabinet ministers now but it is so proud that it has no control in the government,” Dr Wee said.
DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, who is also Finance Minister, had cited the government’s decision to renew Lynas’ operating licence as proof that DAP is not the kingmaker as alleged by the Opposition.
Lim and four DAP ministers were among 13 ministers who had signed pledges against Lynas prior to GE14.
“Does Lim Guan Eng deserve praise for what he said?” Dr Wee asked.
