Court S Ruling Proves No Executive Interference Says Anwar S Aide
An aide to Anwar Ibrahim has criticised PAS Youth chief Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden for suggesting the prime minister should go on leave pending the disposal of a sexual assault suit against him.
ADSKamil Abdul Munim described Afnan’s suggestion that there could be “executive interference” in the legal proceedings as “dangerous and irresponsible”.
“The fact is, the High Court's decision yesterday is clear evidence that there was no interference in determining the outcome of the application.
“The judge was free to make an assessment based on the arguments presented by both parties in court,” said the political secretary.
Kamil (above) said this is clear proof that the Madani government upholds the principle of separation of powers, including the independence of the judiciary.
“The prime minister's ability to carry out his duties as the chief executive should be evaluated based on performance, not political hatred as practised by PAS,” he added.

Furthermore, Kamil said based on Afnan’s logic, the menteris besar of Kedah dan Kelantan should have also gone on leave.
Trial on June 16
Yesterday, the High Court in Kuala Lumpur dismissed Anwar’s application to refer eight legal questions arising from the civil suit filed by his former aide Yusoff Rawther four years ago.
The questions included whether he has immunity from the civil suit.
With this court decision, the sexual assault trial will proceed as scheduled on June 16.
Following the decision, Anwar insisted that his bid to suspend the lawsuit against him was never about seeking personal immunity from litigation.
“This matter has never been about seeking personal immunity or escaping legal scrutiny.
“It concerns the integrity of our constitutional system and the need to ensure that high public office is protected from litigation that may be strategically timed, politically motivated, or institutionally disruptive,” he said. - Mkini
