Coup D Etat You Are Absurd
ZAHID Hamidi's absence from the official opening of the second session of the 14th Parliament today raised many speculations, some of which are positive and otherwise. Contemplation is rife too about his position as the Umno president and Barisan Nasional chairman.
Speculations, of course, run wild.
He was engaged in a 'very big important' matter. Not because of Ismail Sabri Yaakob has taken over the role as an Opposition Leader in Dewan Rakyat or Mohamad Hasan (his deputy) is having a free hand in managing party's business. Wrong again, Tok Mat is not as such and anything about the party is always referred to the president.
There are a few more being absent from the opening ceremony, including from the Pakatan Rakyat side. Its normal when you are involved in an unavoidable obligation. And it is a nature in many countries as well.
Zahid is 'on leave' from party's activity although he has been a crowd puller in his personal programs in Semenyih by-election, which BN won. I guess such outings help Umno and BN to build up peoples' confidence for the party.
With Umno and Pas becoming as 'one' and to the distress of the ruling party, especially DAP, Zahid is seeing tremendous progress to his 'Bangkit' or 'Revival' theme. Together with Tok Mat and the rest of Umno office bearers, Umno, BN and Pas is forming a formidable team in the next general election.
Coup de e'tat?
No! Zahid is still Umno president. Who wants or plans to? Although certain quarter in the party is against the democratic rule (for their self-interest agenda), the former deputy premier is in fact getting more party-dominant, exactly what he needs before making a comeback soon.
Some even said his absentee today is a sign of 'political withdrawal' and some even suggested that 'its the end of Zahid's era'.
Zahid main objective now is to make Umno united again. For him, if the party wants to gain respect and recognition from others, unity is the keyword. How could supporters of Pas, PH and the fence sitters feel Umno's might if it is plagued by internal bickering?
Those in the party must realize this, and Zahid will be the catalyst.
Maybe his court cases? Naahh! Many other MPs are facing it but they still walk high. We believe in the judiciary (crossed my fingers).
He will come back, more convincingly! So, stop all the wild and 'naughty guessing!'
