Cops To Thoroughly Vet Applications For Cross Border Travel

IPOH: The police will conduct thorough checks to ensure that applicants are truthful when applying for permission to cross borders, says Comm Datuk Kasuahdi Ali.
The Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order deputy director said the police would filter through the applications at the respective police stations before approving the permit to cross states.
“So far, there’s been no issue of people wanting to go home for Chinese New Year.
“I believe there are also others who would want to take advantage of the long weekend, ” he said during a visit to the roadblock at Jalan Kuala Kangsar here Thursday (Feb 11).
“But we have existing laws and we will go through the applications thoroughly.
“If there are any such attempts, they will not go past the roadblocks if they do not follow the standard operating procedures as set by the National Security Council, ” he added.
On his visit, DCP Kasuahdi said the Inspector-General of Police has instructed all senior officers ranked Senior Asst Comm and above to check on all roadblocks and quarantine centres in Perak, Negri Sembilan and Malacca.
“We want to ensure those manning roadblocks or on duty at quarantine centres will have their morale boosted.
“It is also to ensure that the SOPs are observed, ” he added.
DCP Kasuahdi also said that with many business premises now allowed to operate, the community has been urged to play an active role to help curb the spread of Covid-19.
“The community are already aware of the pandemic and should play their respective roles.
“If they just rely on enforcement, we will all fail as it’s not sufficient, ” he added. - Star
