Cops Record Segambut Mp S Statement Over Fake Poster Against Her

The Sentul police have recorded Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh’s statement as a witness over a fake poster alleging she encouraged attacks against ex-prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin's government over its disagreements with Istana Negara.
Her statement today was a follow-up to a police report she lodged over the poster on July 31.
Yeoh (above), in a virtual press conference outside the Sentul district police headquarters after giving her statement, claimed that the poster was circulated by Perikatan Nasional (PN) politicians, particularly MCA and PAS leaders.
"I hope the police investigate this as soon as possible.
"At that same time, I have instructed my lawyers, Khairil Khalid and Athari Bahardin, to issue a letter of demand to the PN politicians that we have found online - MCA and also, PAS - for sharing fake news,” she said.
Athari said the legal team will first request the identified individuals to retract their social media posts carrying the fake poster and issue a public apology.
“Failing which, we will proceed with a civil action against these individuals,” the lawyer said.
The poster, allegedly carrying Yeoh's comment, was captioned “When will it be denied?” by a PAS-aligned Facebook page.
The former deputy minister had denied the contents of that post on July 31 in a social media post of her own.
“This morning, I was informed that there are individuals from PAS spreading a fake poster once again on Facebook, slandering me. This is all false and my political secretary is heading to the police station to make a report now," she said on Facebook.

Yeoh previously took legal action against former inspector-general of police Musa Hassan and Universiti Utara Malaysia lecturer Kamarul Zaman Yusoff over defamation.

Her most recent legal suit involved a speech given by Musa at Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) on Jan 30 where he allegedly suggested DAP published a book over the purported role of the Malays behind the May 13 riots, among others.
In May, the High Court struck out Yeoh’s lawsuit against Musa for technical reasons.
In the same press conference today, Yeoh expressed her hopes that she will be able to get justice.
“We are sending out letters of demand as I have been slandered many times and have not received justice.
“Even though I was slandered previously and the police had met the accused, the attorney-general did not take action in court so I did not feel that I had received justice.
“That is why, on this occasion, I also hope that the police will investigate (this matter) and I can seek justice in court (from) these individuals who have shared fake news,” she said. - Mkini
