Cops Confirm Probe Against Armizan Over Directorship
A police report has been lodged against the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Armizan Ali over allegations that he is still a director in a state government-owned company.
Nilai district police chief Abdul Malik Hasim confirmed receiving the report and stated that the complainant has provided a statement.
“The Nilai district police headquarters has received a police report against Armizan, and the complainant’s statement was recorded on March 3, 2025, at 10.56pm. Only one report has been lodged,” he told Malaysiakini.
‘Is Armizan above Constitution?’
The report was made by political activist Tandiko Dalusin, who called on the police to investigate whether Armizan had breached Article 48(1)(c) of the Federal Constitution.
“How could an MP not be aware of such matters? Is Armizan attempting to challenge the law and the Federal Constitution?
“Is Armizan above the Federal Constitution of Malaysia?” he questioned in the police report sighted by Malaysiakini.

In the report, Tandiko also stated that Armizan’s act of holding a position in the company is in conflict with the Code of Ethics for Members of the Administration and MPs.
“This is clearly unethical and could lead to negative views and poor public perception towards Armizan himself. And there may be a conflict of interest in this matter,” he said.
Malaysiakini has contacted Armizan for a response.
Fair and just investigation
Yesterday, Sabah Bersatu Youth questioned Armizan’s position as a minister.
This came after checks with the Companies Commission of Malaysia as of April 1 revealed that Armizan remains a director of Common Tower Technology Sdn Bhd (Common Tech) - a position he has held since Feb 1, 2023.
Sabah Bersatu Youth chief Hisyam Hazaril Azman said the matter raises a conflict of interest and violates Article 48(1)(c) of the Federal Constitution.
According to Hisyam, Armizan’s admission that he previously held a position on the board of a state subsidiary, Sabah Mineral Management Sdn Bhd (SMM), also raised concerns about conflicts of interest, considering he was then the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah, Sarawak Affairs, and Special Functions).
Commenting further, Tandiko said Armizan’s conduct clearly contradicts the third and fourth principles of the Rukun Negara - the supremacy of the constitution and the rule of law.
“Therefore, I urge the Royal Malaysia Police to investigate Armizan fairly and justly, just like any ordinary citizen, without distinction between the people and ministers,” he said. - Mkini
