Cops Acted To Prevent Malaysia Indonesia Post Match Tensions

Police held back 41 individuals at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil last Tuesday to prevent further escalation of post-match tensions which followed the national football team’s 2-0 victory against Indonesia, according to Bukit Aman CID chief Huzir Mohamed
Huzir said a minor commotion involving fans throwing flares and destroying the stadium seats occurred at the buffer zone separating the Malaysian and Indonesian fans
"To prevent any untoward incidents, police conducted arrests for documentation purposes
"After we completed the documentation process, we also carried out urine tests and two Malaysians, as well as two Indonesians, tested positive," he said

"The rest who were held back were released immediately," he added
Huzir said police also received a report from an Indonesian man who was allegedly assaulted by four men outside the stadium, slightly after midnight, as he was about to leave on his motorcycle
"They had allegedly assaulted him, took his money and I-Kad (immigration card)
"We have instructed Kuala Lumpur police to investigate (the incident) as a robbery case," he said
Huzir (above), meanwhile, said police are also identifying individuals behind a 48-second video which first went viral due to false claims that it occurred after the match outside the National Stadium
Huzir previously confirmed that the incident involving two Indonesian men and a group initially believed to be Malaysian fans had taken place at around 2am on Nov 19 in Bukit Bintang, had nothing to do with the football match
The incident was also investigated as a robbery case as one of the victims had reported loss of money and passport
"The issue here is that we want to identify who had recorded the video. After that, who had uploaded it on Twitter with (provocative) edits
"I believe if it was an Indonesian who recorded the incident, he would have also been attacked," said Huzir
Huzir added that police are in contact with the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur to record statements from the two victims said to have returned to Indonesia shortly after lodging their report last week

On July 16, 2009, Teoh was found dead after falling from the ninth floor of Plaza Masalam, MACC's former Selangor headquarters in Shah Alam, where he had been held overnight for questioning
Attorney-General Tommy Thomas had on July 16 instructed for Teoh's sudden death case to be re-investigated under Section 342 of the Penal Code for wrongful confinement
New probe on Dutch model's deathFollowing instructions from the Attorney-General's Chambers, Huzir said a special team from Bukit Aman and KL police will be formed to re-investigate the death of Dutch model Ivana Esther Robert Smit
"The case will be reclassified under Section 302 of the Penal Code (for murder)," he said, adding that police are now waiting to receive the original Sudden Death Report from the attorney-general's chambers
The new probe order was issued after the Kuala Lumpur High Court had overturned a coroner’s ruling that Smit's death in 2017 was due to misadventure. - Mkini
