Commuters Hit By Delay On Kelana Jaya Lrt Line
PETALING JAYA: A delay along the Kelana Jaya LRT line has disrupted travel for commuters during peak hour on Tuesday (March 24) morning.
RapidKL said on social media that trains along the line were experiencing delays as of 8.46am.
At 9.13am it said that services were being regulated at normal speeds with frequency of trains being restored.
RapidKL also apologised to commuters for the inconvenience caused.
Commuters expressed their dissatisfaction at the delay on social media.
Facebook user Lee Felicia said the train stopped in the middle of the track and the air-conditioning was also not working.
"The train was packed with people desperately trying to open the windows," she commented on RapidKL's post.
Marliana Abdul Aziz said the public address system in the train was incoherent.
"I could not understand the announcements as the sound was constantly breaking up. The only thing I heard was 'Taman Jaya'," she said.
Arthur Yee said more preventive measures could be taken, especially after operational hours.
"Notice the patterns, find the cause of things and figure out how to prevent it," he said.
The Kelana Jaya LRT line has experienced two other breakdowns during peak hours in May.
On May 10, a brake fault on a train at the Taman Jaya LRT station caused disruption along the LRT Kelana Jaya Line.
Approximately 12,000 passengers were affected after the train's brake hydraulic system leaked and automatically activated the brakes to prevent it from moving.
On May 20, a train carriage broke down at the KL Sentral LRT station during peak hours which disrupted travels for some 22,100 users. - Star
