Commuter Chaos As Kelana Jaya Line Breaks Down
Long lines were seen at stations along the affected portions of the Kelana Jaya line for more than two hours on the morning of Feb 18, 2019 due to a breakdown
PETALING JAYA: Commuters on the Kelana Jaya Line were up in arms over the breakdown on Monday (Feb 18) morning that lasted for over two hours
"It was quite chaotic at the Wangsa Maju LRT as there were long lines of queues at the gates of the station downstairs because the waiting zone was overcrowded with people rushing for work and school," said 25-year-old Alex Lim
Another commuter, 22-year-old Andrea Joseph, had a similar experience and was over two hours late for work
She arrived at Wangsa Maju LRT at 6.40am, but only managed to reach her office in Seri Setia at 10.30am.
"I was stuck at Ampang Park for a long time and there was no one there to assist us so I didn't know what to do. I would normally arrive at the office at 7.30am. My fellow colleagues were also caught in the delay," she said.
It was a similar situation on social media as the RapidKL social media accounts were flooded with comments from angry commuters. One comment came in a tweet from Twitter user MilasaliM, who asked RapidKL to ask their announcer to "stop apologising"
"Question is, what is RapidKL planning to do to solve the situation and not repeat it again. Your apology is not going to help us get to work/appointments on time or reimburse the money we lost", said MilasaliM.- Star
