Cmco In Kedah Terengganu And Johor To Be Lifted If Covid 19 Situation Improves

Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the conditional movement control order (MCO) may be lifted from Kedah, Terengganu and Johor soon, if the Covid-19 situation improves in those three states within these two weeks.
“We implemented the conditional MCO for two weeks but after two weeks, maybe we will see some good developments in Kedah, Terengganu and Johor.
“If there is a good development, maybe we will consider returning (those states) back to the recovery MCO,” Noor Hisham said in his press conference at the Health Ministry in Putrajaya today.
Previously, all states in Malaysia had been placed under the conditional MCO, except for Perlis, Pahang and Kelantan. Most of Sarawak was also exempted from the conditional MCO, aside from Kuching.
Noor Hisham said it is important to protect these green states, especially from those from red zones who are visiting the green zones.
“We have to look at how to screen those going from red zones to green zones.
“We need to protect these (green) states with public health intervention and ensure that those returning from red states or districts (to green zones) are screened and tested and so on,” he said.
Noor Hisham also stressed that there would be no need for the conditional MCO if everyone complied with the standard operating procedures (SOP).
“But because compliance is an issue, we have to implement the conditional MCO for enforcement purposes.
“We have to limit the public from crossing districts or crossing states.
“If we can control that, then we can prevent the spread (of Covid-19) to green zones,” he said. - Mkini
