Salleh Said Keruak says everyone needs to cooperate to make sure Budget 2021 is workable and viable. (Bernama pic)PETALING JAYA: A former federal minister has urged all parties in the Perikatan Nasional-led government to close ranks and cooperate with one another for the good of the country.
Salleh Said Keruak, who is a former Sabah chief minister, said this would be in line with the wishes of both the Conference of Rulers and the people.
“This would involve everyone cooperating and making sure Budget 2021 is workable and viable, and will help alleviate or, better still, eliminate the suffering of the rakyat.
“This is what the Rulers want and also what the rakyat want. And this is what we must do,” he said in a statement today.
He added that Malaysians are now more “conscientious regarding political developments,” with the court of public opinion making it difficult for politicians to “misstep and get away with it unpunished”.
Meanwhile, PN information chief Azmin Ali thanked the King for His Majesty’s confidence in the government’s handling of the pandemic.
“PN also welcomes the solidarity shown by component parties PAS, STAR, and SAPP, and MPs from Umno, MCA, MIC, PBRS, GPS and PBS who have all expressed their full support for (Prime Minister) Muhyiddin Yassin’s leadership and the PN administration.”
Azmin said PN also called for all political leaders to come together to unite in the fight against Covid-19 and in restoring the country’s economy. - FMT
