Former law minister Zaid Ibrahim said Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Attorney-General Ahmad Terrirudin Salleh should call for a press conference to answer all questions.PETALING JAYA: Former law minister Zaid Ibrahim has called on the prime minister and the attorney-general to hold a press conference to clear the air over a “supplementary order” that apparently allows former prime minister Najib Razak to serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest.
In a statement on X today, Zaid also questioned the wisdom of filing affidavits in relation to Najib’s application to compel the government to produce the “supplementary order”.
He said such affidavits were subject to cross-examination.
“The simple solution is for the prime minister to call a press conference and bring along the attorney-general,” he said, referring to Anwar Ibrahim and Ahmad Terrirudin Salleh, respectively.

In his application filed on April 1, Najib claimed that then Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah had issued the “supplementary order” during the Federal Territories Pardons Board’s meeting on Jan 29, a day before his term ended.
The board is headed by the king and consists of five members – the attorney-general, the federal territories minister, and a maximum of three others appointed by the king.
Najib alleged that the “supplementary order” was not announced by the board on Feb 2, when it said it had halved his prison sentence in his SRC International case from 12 years to six and reduced his fine from RM210 million to RM50 million.
Najib, 70, is currently serving his sentence at the Kajang prison and is to be released on Aug 23, 2028.
In an affidavit filed in support of Najib’s application which surfaced yesterday, deputy prime minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was reported to have confirmed the existence of the purported order.
Zaid went on to say that it was Anwar’s responsibility as prime minister to share all necessary information with his Cabinet so they can be collectively responsible for the decision.
He said that based on the response from some ministers, it seemed unlikely that Anwar had divulged details about the purported “supplementary order”. - FMT
