Christmas Activities Allowed In Cmco And Rmco Areas With Conditions
Christians who live in areas under the conditional or recovery movement control order (MCO) are allowed to attend service at their respective churches for Christmas this Dec 24 and 25.
According to a presser by Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob today, those who live in these areas are also allowed to visit one another on Christmas Day.
However, house visits are limited to close family members only, and the number of visitors is subject to the size of the residence.
For Christians who live in areas are placed under enhanced MCO, no such activities are allowed.
"However, no open house events and door-to-door carolling activities are allowed at any area, either under conditional MCO or recovery MCO," Ismail said.
The houses of worship allowed to open for Christmas service have to limit attendees according to the size of their premises, as per SOPs issued by the National Security Council.
For services on Dec 24, they are allowed to hold it in two sessions, each for 90 minutes, from 5pm to 9.30pm. The management of the churches are required to conduct sanitisation works in between the services.
On Christmas Day, the churches, minor basilicas, cathedrals, and chapels are allowed to hold three sessions, between 7am and 1.45pm. The same requirement for sanitisation also applies.
"For house visits in recovery and conditional MCO areas during the festival, not more than 20 individuals are allowed at the same time in a landed house.
"For a strata residence with less than 1,500 square feet in size, not more than 10 people are allowed, while for those which have an area size of beyond 2,500 square feet, not more than 15 people at one time.
"All family members who are involved in the visit must abide by SOPs at all times," Ismail added.
