PETALING JAYA: A case of a six-year-old autistic boy who was allegedly abused at a daycare centre in Shah Alam last month has been classified as requiring “no further action” (NFA) after being referred to the Selangor legal adviser.
Shah Alam police chief Iqbal Ibrahim said the case was classified as NFA because of a lack of evidence.
He said the case was investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001, following a report made by the child’s mother on Jan 16.
“The daycare centre operates in a terraced house and is registered under the Shah Alam City Council until March 14, 2025,” he said in a statement.
He also said CCTV footage of the premises did not show the boy sustaining any injuries there.
Iqbal said the boy’s mother first noticed red marks on his back and under his right eye on Jan 15 while she was giving him a bath.
“She also observed that he was less active and interactive when she picked him up from the daycare centre on the same day,” he said.
Iqbal said the boy, who has mild autism and communication difficulties, had been attending the daycare centre since 2022 but it was the first time that he got injured.
“The boy had undergone medical examination and received treatment at Shah Alam Hospital,” he said.
