PETALING JAYA: Police have opened an investigation paper on a video uploaded on social media inciting Malaysians to oppose law enforcement.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Rusdi Isa said they received a report about the video on Tuesday.
“The Bukit Aman classified crime investigation unit is handling the investigation,” Bernama reported him as saying.
Rusdi said the case is being investigated under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948 and Section 505(C) of the Penal Code, which relates to making statements intending to incite any group or race.
“Investigations are also being conducted under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for the improper use of network facilities or network services,” he said.
In the 29-second video posted by TikTok user @strangewizard999, a man believed to be abroad urges Malaysians to attack police and act aggressively towards law enforcement officers.
Defamation probe involving Perak MB
On a separate matter, Perak police are investigating two reports involving race, religion and royalty issues on Facebook, linked to menteri besar Saarani Mohamad and the Perak Islamic religious department (JAIPK).
Perak police chief Noor Hisam Nordin said investigations have begun into a defamatory and offensive comment about Saarani, and a separate issue regarding a Friday sermon text by JAIPK.
He said efforts to locate those responsible for the comments are ongoing.
Noor Hisam told reporters the investigations are being conducted under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code for statements conducive to public mischief, Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act, and Section 4 of the Sedition Act.
Yesterday, Perak Umno Youth chief Nazirul Jamaluddin filed a police report against a person suspected to be a political activist, who allegedly posted a derogatory comment on a news portal’s Facebook page on Feb 1.
The comment alleged that Saarani was linked to a JAIPK investigation.
Former Titi Serong assemblyman Hasnul Zulkarnain Abdul Munaim also filed a report against the Gerik PAS branch, after the party claimed that the Friday sermon text provided by JAIPK had been influenced by DAP. - FMT
