Bn To Submit Several Election Petitions Zambry Says
BN will submit election petitions in several seats that the party lost in the 15th general election (GE), said Zambry Abdul Kadir.
According to the BN secretary-general, they have the basis to do so for several seats, including those won by Perikatan Nasional (PN).
However, he did not provide details about the areas involved.
"Yes, we will announce later, there are indeed some areas we will file, but we will announce later.
"There are reasons (to do so). When we file, of course, there are principles for us to file," Zambry (above) said when met by the media at the World Trade Centre (WTC), in Kuala Lumpur, today.
Previously, BN candidate for the Gua Musang parliamentary constituency, Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, submitted a petition to challenge the results of his electoral defeat.
Tengku Razaleigh's representative filed the petition at the Kota Bharu High Court on Jan 3.
The petition was filed by one Mohd Azmi Mahmood, on behalf of the Umno veteran on Jan 3, through the latter's lawyers Muhammad Shafee Abdullah, Mohd Hafarizam Harun, Abu Bakar Isa Ramat and Mohd Baharudeen Mohd Ariff.
The petition named PN’s Gua Musang MP Mohd Azizi Abu Naim, returning officer Ab Fattah Hasbullah and the Election Commission (EC) as respondents.
Former Gua Musang MP Tengku Razaleigh HamzahThe petition requested that the results of the Gua Musang parliament seat be annulled and called for by-elections to be held for the area involved.
In the general election that took place on Nov 19 last year, Tengku Razaleigh lost for the first time since 1974.
On that note, Zambry said the number of submissions that will be made by BN will be announced later as a committee has been formed.
"The committee will announce it later, because we have identified several places and we will then inform (the public)," he said.
Asked about the declaration of assets for Umno leaders who are members of the cabinet, Zambry said they would do so when asked.
"We will do it when we want to," he said. - Mkini
