Bn Gov T Didn T Receive Single Sen From Int L Aid For Rohingya
Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi says that Malaysia under the then BN government didn't receive a single sen from a country that promised to donate for Rohingya refugees here
The party's media portal Umno Online reported Zahid (above) as saying that the aid only arrived after Malaysia was not under the BN government anymore
The Bagan Datuk MP said he came forward to explain about the funds to clear himself and the party from any accusation in regard to the said funds
"During the BN ruling, I myself had worked for assistance from a country (for Rohingya)
"Not a single sen was obtained by the (then) government and deposited into any foundation or personal account
"I was made to learn that the assistance only arrived when BN was not the government anymore
"Of course, the assistance was materialised due to the effort of the BN government where I myself had sought for help but we were unfortunate because we were no more the ruling party," he said
Zahid said in the spirit of Ramadan, he would forgive anyone who accused and slandered him over the aid
Umno Online reported that when Zahid was the deputy prime minister, he had announced that Qatar would sponsor the humanitarian project to help Rohingya refugees in Malaysia through the Qatar Development Fund
Meanwhile, in a separate report, Zahid stressed that the then BN government had provided skills training for Rohingya refugees as well as schooling for the Rohingya children
"But they were all on a temporary basis because they would be sent to their home country after it achieves peace," he said. - Mkini
