Bersatu Leader Presses Party To Act On Zuraida S Subtle Betrayal
Bersatu supreme council member Muhammad Faiz Na’aman is keeping pressure on the party to act against Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin.
Faiz (above), who was already upset at Zuraida's links to the setting up of Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM), complained that the former PKR leader made no effort to campaign for the party during the Johor polls.
"I hope the Bersatu leadership will not take the matter lightly. This character has subtly abandoned Bersatu's struggle because she has betrayed the party even though it is not done openly.
"She didn't even campaign (during the Johor polls). That means she is not with Perikatan Nasional (PN)... Zuraida did not help. Even if she did go, it was representing her ministry.
"We believe serious action should be taken against Zuraida," he was quoted as saying by Utusan Malaysia.
The Malay daily also reported that Zuraida, who is also a Bersatu supreme council member, was removed from a communication group for Bersatu supreme council members.
The report, citing sources, said the Whatsapp group comprised some 30 Bersatu supreme council members including party president Muhyiddin Yassin.
"Everyone agreed on removing Zuraida because we don't want disloyal characters in the party," he said.
Zuraida used to be a PKR vice-president before the Anwar Ibrahim-led party sacked her for her role in 2020's Sheraton Move that caused the collapse of the then Pakatan Harapan federal government.
Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Zuraida KamaruddinShe then joined Bersatu together with former PKR deputy president Azmin Ali, who PKR also sacked over his role in the political coup. Both of them were later appointed to the Bersatu supreme council.
Since then, Zuraida was rumoured to be planning to form a new political party. The rumour grew stronger when several former PKR leaders aligned to Zuraida and Azmin founded PBM late last year.
In December, Zuraida's former political secretary, Nor Hizwan Ahmad, announced he had quit Bersatu to join PBM and that he was bringing along 53,000 members of Penggerak Komuniti Negara (PKN), an NGO linked to Zuraida.
PBM has distanced itself from the internal revolt against Zuraida.
Zuraida maintained that it was still business as usual despite the criticisms against her. - Mkini
