Being A Candidate Is Not A Personal Right Says Annuar
Ketereh Umno division chief Annuar Musa said those not nominated as candidates should accept the decision with an open heart.KOTA BHARU: To become a candidate of a party is not a personal right as all decisions are determined by the party’s top leadership, says Ketereh Umno division chief Annuar Musa.
He said every Umno member should prioritise the spirit of sacrifice and serve the party completely, even if they were not nominated to contest in the coming general election.
Annuar said the practice of sabotage or “cah keting” should not happen because it was not only detrimental to the party but could also affect oneself.
He said candidates were selected after meeting several key criteria such as the approval of the party leadership, the approval of the party machinery and being liked by the people.

“If you want to be a candidate to represent an organisation or party, then it is the party’s right to choose, not ours, but if you still want to be a candidate to run, get the form yourself,” he said.
Yesterday, Umno vice-president Ismail Sabri Yaakob advised Barisan Nasional (BN) members not to get caught up in the practice of “cah keting”’ if they were not nominated as candidates.
They should accept the party’s decision with an open heart and not get involved in “cah keting”’ because this could cause BN to lose even in its own stronghold, Ismail said. - FMT
