The SEA Club is hosting a fundraiser on Saturday with the aim of helping more people with autism achieve financial independence. (SEA Club pic)PETALING JAYA: Kelab Sokongan Pekerjaan Autisme, more commonly known as the SEA Club, is organising a charity bazaar on Nov 26 in Section 4, here, to raise funds to help people with autism (PWA).
“Financial independence is a crucial aspect of adult life, and individuals with PWA can navigate this difficult journey successfully, with a caring, supported work environment,” the club said in a statement today.
The club added that it would identify all other sources of income, including disability benefits and any other additional support, to ensure a reliable monthly income via supported employment to PWAs.
Saturday’s fundraiser is aimed at expanding the SEA club operations because it has a long waiting list of people needing help, but it currently does not have the means to do so.
“For the SEA Club to progress positively and continue its good work, we need funds from individuals, companies and organisations,” the club said, adding that it has plans for activities that promote mental and physical well-being.
It also said funds would be set aside for social activities and leisure pursuits, or events that contribute to PWAs overall well-being and happiness.
“There will also be health and emergency funds to cover unexpected expenses, providing a financial safety net during challenging times; for example during the Covid-19 pandemic,” the club said.
