Armizan Fires Back At Wee Mca Should Ve Spoken Up On Lpg 4 Years Ago
Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Armizan Ali has taken further jabs at Wee Ka Siong over the MCA president championing the use of subsidised liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders without a permit for small food traders.
ADSIn a statement today, Armizan sarcastically said if Wee had found his voice as the people's spokesperson while he was a minister four years back, then he would have raised objections against the Control of Supplies (Amendment) Regulations in 2021 instead of now.
"I think I need to congratulate the MCA president because in his current 'position' he is more concerned as a 'people's spokesperson' than before," Armizan said.
Earlier today, Wee took to Facebook to provide evidence that the regulation amendments tabled in 2021 had not mentioned the need for a permit in the consumption of more than three subsidised LPG cylinders.
"These facts clearly prove that I was not involved in approving such measures, and that the government has the discretion to decide whether or not to enforce such policies.
"Once again, I call on Armizan to come forward and explain," the former transport minister said.
Before this, MCA claimed credit for Armizan's announcement that subsidised LPG cylinders can continue to be used by micro and small traders in the food and beverage industry until amendments to the Control of Supplies Regulations 2021 are finalised in October.
Wrong law cited
In response to Wee’s latest argument, Armizan said that Wee was commenting on a different piece of legislation - the Supply Control (Amendment) Act 2022.
"I really couldn't find the legal provision I was referring to because I mentioned A, but he referred to Z," Armizan added.
He told Wee not to confuse the public with laws that he had not brought up.

MCA chief Wee Ka SiongWee may have more experience as a politician, Armizan acknowledged, but the Papar MP said he will stick to existing legal sources to avoid making irresponsible statements.
"Accusing me of citing non-existent legal authority is not a reflection of the wealth of experience and wisdom of the MCA president, whom I did get the opportunity to know in the past," he added.
The two had been trading barbs over the issue, with Wee questioning why eateries have been instructed to use commercial gas cylinders instead of subsidised gas cylinders for households.
He also questioned why traders must request a permit for using more than three gas cylinders a month.
Armizan hit back, saying that the regulation stemmed from the previous government, which Wee was part of. - Mkini
