Anwar To Stump In Sanusi S Seat On Campaign Swing In Kedah

STATE POLLS | Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim will be campaigning in Kedah tomorrow.
Kedah - a swing state - has become a focal point in the six-state elections, with the Pakatan Harapan-BN coalition aiming to wrest the seat away from Perikatan Nasional.
Anwar’s first Kedah stop is Jeneri - the seat of Kedah caretaker menteri besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor.
Anwar and Sanusi have an adversarial relationship, with the latter claiming to be targeted and oppressed by the former.
Kedah caretaker menteri besar Muhammad Sanusi Md NorSanusi has also taken to mocking Anwar by copying the prime minister’s iconic arm raised pose.
During his Jeneri stop, Anwar will be attending a Felda carnival at Felda Teloi Timur and is expected to arrive in the early evening.
During the 15th general election, 58 percent of Felda Teloi Timur voters cast their ballots at the parliamentary level for PN, while 37.9 voted BN and 3.9 voted Harapan.
It is also one of four polling districts where the oldest voters sided with BN-Harapan (72.5 percent).
After Jeneri, the prime minister will be in Jitra for a Harapan-BN unity event.
During GE15, PN won support from 59 percent of Jitra voters.
The seat is currently held by Pejuang president Mukhriz Mahathir, who is not contesting in the election.
After Jitra, Anwar will be heading to Alor Setar for a Harapan-BN ceramah.
Wide audience
The location of the ceramah is in the Alor Mengkudu seat where Kedah Harapan chief Mahfuz Omar is contesting, but there are several other seats in close proximity, giving Anwar a chance to reach a wide audience across multiple constituencies.
The ceramah is also a 15-minute drive from the Darul Aman football stadium, where Sanusi is expected to join in a football match tomorrow night.
Anwar’s last stop in Kedah is an even bigger Harapan-BN ceramah at the Kupang night market.
The location is accessible to voters from several seats, namely Kupang, Kuala Ketil, and those living near the south side of Jeneri and Belantek.
All these seats had voted 60 percent and above for PN during GE15. - Mkini
