Anwar Says He Spoke To Azmin At Length
PKR president Anwar Ibrahim said today that he has recently spoken "at length" with his deputy Mohamed Azmin Ali
Anwar said this outside the PKR headquarters in Petaling Jaya, where the party's political bureau is scheduled to convene for its weekly meeting
He did not reveal what transpired between himself and Azmin, but promised to issue a statement after the meeting. He also confirmed that Azmin would not be in attendance
Anwar said he had spoken to several parties individually about the "latest developments" and expected a swift political bureau meeting
Those attending today's meeting include PKR disciplinary board chairperson Syed Husin Ali, chief whip Johari Abdul Ghani, vice-president Dr Xavier Jayakumar, secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, vice-president Ali Biju and information chief Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin
The meeting is being held two days after the spread of three video clips which depicted a person resembling Azmin in bed with another man
At about 2am this morning, PKR member Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz claimed in a video on Facebook page to be the person depicted in the sex videos
Haziq also urged authorities to investigate Azmin for graft
Azmin has described the saga as a "nefarious plot" designed to tarnish his reputation and hurt his career. The saga started at about 1.25am on Tuesday morning when three video clips were circulated to reporters and PKR members through several WhatsApp messaging groups. Accompanying the video clips were two documents which alleged that UEM Group Bhd had paid Azmin US$741,000 in 2017. UEM has denied the allegation today. - Mkini
