Anwar Must Accept The Fact His Career Is Over
Anwar’s supporters and backers are beginning to see that Anwar is not really the Gandhi or Mandela that he pretends to be. In the end, all his big talk comes to nothing. The reality is, people want to associate with the winner, not with the loser. And Anwar is far from the winner that he keeps saying he is.
NO HOLDS BARRED
Raja Petra Kamarudin
(Malaysia Now) – He (Mahathir) said PH’s attempt to return to power had failed even when Perikatan Nasional was shaky due to its thin margin.
But he said efforts to forge cooperation with PH under Anwar did not happen because of Anwar’s insistence that Mahathir should not play any role.
“The condition imposed on me was that I should not hold any position in PH, let alone be the prime minister. He wanted to be prime minister. So I said to him, ‘I’ll be prime minister for six months, then you take over’,” said Mahathir.
“Then what is my role? I cannot be the prime minister; I cannot be in the party. He rejected me. But he cleverly told the people that it was I who rejected him.”
Under a deal agreed on among PH leaders, Mahathir, who led the government for the second time following the coalition’s historic electoral victory in 2018, was to hand over the top post to Anwar.
The coalition however fell apart before the transition could take place, with component parties bickering over the date for Mahathir to step down.

Ismail Sabri Yaakob got 114 votes for PM while Anwar Ibrahim got only 101. Five MPs were “neutral” and did not support any side. So, will Ismail Sabri get sworn in as PM9 tomorrow (or Saturday)?
Lim Kit Siang has suggested that Anwar be made the Deputy PM to Ismail Sabri. Earlier, Muhyiddin Yassin proposed a unity government or kerajaan perpaduan. However, Anwar rejected that proposal and called it an insult. Hence it is not clear whether Kit Siang got Anwar’s approval before proposing him for the number two job.

From PM-in-waiting to DPM to Ismail Sabri. That’s a new low for Anwar’s political career. Anyway, according to Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Anwar cannot make it on his own and his rise up the political ladder these last 40 years was with the grace of the old man.
That seems to be the case because every time Anwar crosses the old man his career moves nowhere. It looks like, without Mahathir, Anwar cannot go places. And this latest setback proves the point that Anwar needs to ride on Mahathir’s back if he wants to go places.
