Airasia Foundation Calls For Flood Recovery Grant Proposals
AirAsia Foundation is inviting relief and rehabilitation organisations to apply for grants from its Malaysia Flood Relief campaign to help fund recovery projects in areas impacted by recent floods in the country.
Organisations that are eligible to apply are non-profit organisations with an established track record in successful implementation of post-disaster rehabilitation projects. The selection process will prioritise proposals for repair of damaged infrastructure such as community halls, schools, clinics, bridges or sanitation facilities. Proposals for disaster preparedness programmes are also welcomed.
Interested applicants may access the application link here or at airasiafoundation.com/humanitarian/malaysia-flood-relief.
Since Dec 22, 2021, AirAsia Foundation and BigPay have been jointly fund-raising in aid of affected communities. To date, the campaign has raised over RM400,000 from onboard donations, BigPay donations, as well as airasia ride and airasia food contributions from orders received between Dec 23 and Dec 31, 2021.
In view of strong response to the campaign, AirAsia Foundation is also announcing a two-week extension of its onboard collections, originally scheduled to end on Jan 9, to Jan 23.
AirAsia Foundation Executive Director Yap Mun Ching said: “We are overwhelmed by the generosity of our guests in supporting this campaign. As heavy rains continue to cause severe flooding in other parts of the country, we feel compelled to extend the donation period so that we can assist more communities in need.”
Aside from onboard channels, BigPay users may make a donation via the BigPay app for android phone users through to Jan 31, 2022. Donors may go to the ‘Payments’ tab and click on the ‘Donations’ tile. BigPay app users who do not see the ‘Donations’ tile should update to the current version in the Playstore.
AirAsia Foundation has an extensive record of supporting organisations that provide relief to communities in crises. Since 2013, the foundation has raised over MYR14 million to support post-disaster relief and rehabilitation programmes following Typhoon Haiyan (2013), Malaysian floods (2014), the Nepal earthquake (2015) and Palu tsunami (2018). In 2019, AirAsia Foundation and BigPay jointly raised RM178,000 to provide food and medical aid to vulnerable communities impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
