After Pakcik Petai Video Sparks Outrage N Sembilan Mb Calls It Unfair
Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun has called it “unfair” to pin the blame on local council officers over the “Pakcik Petai” incident in Port Dickson, which has sparked outrage.
“Why is there a need to advise the local authorities? Don't blame those who are just doing their jobs. It’s unfair to blame everything on the local authorities,” he said.
Aminuddin was commenting on a viral video of an elderly man throwing away petai onto the road in protest after being prohibited from selling it using his motorcycle.
The incident is believed to have occurred in front of a supermarket in Port Dickson.

Aminuddin, also the Port Dickson MP, urged the public not to hastily judge the Port Dickson Municipal Council (MPPD) officers but to consider the entire chronology of events.
According to him, the edited video, which only showed the final moments of the incident, created a negative perception of the MPPD officers who were carrying out their duties.
“I hope people look at the incident from start to finish, not just at the end because it ultimately leads to unfair accusations against those involved.
“We acknowledge there was an issue, but it started with a complaint about conducting business in front of a shop where it was not allowed.
“… and when advised, the incident happened. Perhaps due to fasting and being in a state of anger, people ended up passing an unfair judgment on everyone involved,” he was quoted as saying by Sinar Harian.

Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Aminuddin HarunTherefore, he advised the public to be fair and not to jump to conclusions without proper investigation.
“When we receive news, we must look at it in its entirety and not punish those who do not deserve punishment,” he added.
However, he expressed gratitude that both parties resolved the misunderstanding amicably.

Yesterday, Berita Harian quoted Mohd Noor Saad, 67, stating that he was saving money for his wife’s eye operation, which cost RM1,500.
Reflecting on the incident, the father of two said he lost his temper when two MPPD officers scolded him for selling petai.
“The action made me 'lose my temper' to the point that I threw away all the petai in the basket out of extreme anger.
"I don’t know who recorded the video because there were many people not far from the scene at that time.
"I myself don’t have a mobile phone, nor do I even know how to use one, but as far as I know, there was a female MPPD officer because she was wearing a uniform and was also taking pictures of the incident," he added.
The MPPD has since agreed to issue a temporary licence to “Pakcik Petai” to allow him to conduct his business legally. - Mkini
