Adib Probe Will Lead To Arrests Says Minister

Firefighter Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim died of injuries sustained in an attack by unknown people while on duty at a temple riot in 2018.PETALING JAYA: The government has given an assurance that the investigations by a special committee into the death of firefighter Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim will lead to the arrest of the suspects.
Housing and local government minister Reezal Merican Naina Merican also said the special committee had met this morning, according to a Berita Harian report.
He said the details of the committee’s recommendations would be announced by its chairman, Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, who is also the de facto law minister.
“Today, Wan Junaidi, home minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, and Attorney-General Tan Sri Idrus Harun held a meeting. I am in the committee because the fire department is under the housing and local government ministry.

Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim.“In the discussions, several suggestions were made and Wan Junaidi will explain everything in detail,” he told reporters in Bukit Jalil today.
Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob had announced the establishment of the special committee yesterday, to ensure a thorough, transparent and proper investigation into the death of Adib, 24.
“The establishment of this special committee proves the government’s commitment to ensuring that Adib, who belonged to the Emergency Medical Rescue Services of the Subang Jaya fire and rescue station, gets justice, and that those responsible for his death are brought to justice,” he said.
Adib suffered serious injuries while on duty at a riot outside a temple in Subang Jaya in November 2018. He died in hospital three weeks later. A coroner’s court ruled that Adib died after a criminal act perpetrated by more than two unidentified people.
Reezal Merican also gave an assurance that the special committee’s investigations would lead to the arrest of suspects in the case.
He said the investigations would continue, with the government always trying to find justice for Adib. “Even if it’s difficult, we will use all our efforts (in investigating the case),” he said. - FMT
