Addendum Saga Zaid Wants Following Orders Terrirudin S Head Spared

Former law minister Zaid Ibrahim has called for fairness toward newly appointed Federal Court judge Ahmad Terrirudin Mohd Salleh amid demands for his resignation.
Critics alleged that Terrirudin, during his tenure as attorney-general, concealed the royal addendum ordering former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak to serve the rest of his jail sentence under house arrest.
“Hold on! Let’s be fair to him. What if he was simply following orders? What if someone higher up instructed him to hide it?” Zaid questioned in a social media post.
The lawyer also questioned if Terrirudin (above), as a civil servant, was merely adhering to the mantra of “menurut perintah” (follow orders).
“What if, for being so obedient and loyal, he was rewarded and thus elevated to the Federal Court? Should he resign?” Zaid added.
Terrirudin was appointed attorney-general on Sept 6, 2023, retired from the position on Nov 11, 2024, and was appointed as a Federal Court judge the next day.
According to Zaid, it would be preferable for the police to determine if there was a conspiracy to conceal the addendum, as alleged by former minister Khairy Jamaluddin in a podcast.
However, he doubts the police would implicate any higher-ups in such a conspiracy.

Brickbats for Terrirudin
Zaid was responding to Najib’s lawyer Muhammad Shafee Abdullah, who claimed that the former attorney-general should have acknowledged the addendum’s existence and debated its legality instead of concealing it.
“Instead, he chose a disreputable path, descending a slippery slope, and is now in disrepute,” Shafee said, calling for Terrirudin’s resignation from his current position.

Apandi said Terrirudin and his successor, current attorney-general Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar, should be axed for not being transparent on the existence of the addendum.
Yesterday, the Gua Musang Umno division, headed by veteran politician Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, said Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim should take responsibility for the issue. - Mkini
