S Vinosiny died about six weeks ago.
The family’s lawyer, M Manoharan, told FMT he had written to Kedah police to get the update and to attorney-general Idrus Harun to ask for an immediate inquest.
He said both letters were sent on June 17 but he had yet to receive any response.
S Vinosiny.“The family is unhappy with the police and the attorney-general for not responding to the letters,” he said. “We have yet to receive the post-mortem investigation report and, up to today, no inquest has been held.
“Why the delay and what’s the problem?”
On May 27, R Sivakumar filed a police report against UUM and called for an investigation to find out whether the university had properly maintained its building. This came a week after his 21-year-old daughter was found dead.
Following the incident, UUM said there would be no cover-up and that it would fully cooperate with authorities in their investigation.
During a visit to the deceased’s home in Klang on May 31, UUM vice-chancellor Haim Hilman Abdullah said maintenance work at the campus in Kedah was carried out according to procedure and schedule.
FMT has contacted Kedah police chief Wan Hassan Ahmad for comment. - FMT
