24hrs After Guan Eng Kit Siang Slaps Hadi With 48hr Ultimatum

DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang has given PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang 48 hours to prove or retract the allegations against him and his party.
The ultimatum comes 24 hours after Lim’s son, Guan Eng, gave PAS MP Siti Mastura Muhammad 48 hours to substantiate her claim that he is related to former Communist Party of Malaya leader Chin Peng and Singapore’s first prime minister Lee Kuan Yew.
In a statement today, Lim (above, left) said if Hadi failed to respond within the stipulated period, he would consider filing a defamation suit.
“The Siti Mastura fiasco has given a new perspective to the wild and preposterous allegations of the PAS president that DAP and I are anti-Malay, anti-Islam, anti-royalty, communist, and spreading Islamophobia.
“How can other leaders of a political party be different from its president who can make wild and preposterous allegations without an iota of evidence?” he added.
Yesterday, Guan Eng, who is also the DAP chairperson, denied that he is related to Chin Peng or Lee.
DAP chairperson Lim Guan EngThe Bagan MP also dismissed Mastura’s claim that he is related to other DAP leaders such as secretary-general Anthony Loke, Nga Kor Ming, Ngeh Koo Ham and Teresa Kok.
“This is not just a personal attack but has racial undertones as well. It is a spiteful allegation against my father (Kit Siang) and me,” he had said.
Accusing PAS of dabbling in politics of “extremism and slander”, Guan Eng said the party’s leaders raise these issues despite knowing that the allegations are false.
PAS has often peddled the “communist” narrative against DAP, apart from claiming that the predominantly Chinese party posed a threat to the position of the Malays and Islam.
In April, Hadi claimed that communists joined DAP as a cover after having nowhere to hide in the jungles.
