22 Years Fighting To The Top 3 Years To Lose The People

In 1998, Anwar Ibrahim became a symbol of resistance.
When he walked out of the lockup with a black eye, a nation stood in shock.
“Reformasi!” wasn’t just a chant. It was a roar. A movement. A fight for justice.
Anwar transformed from UMNO’s rising star to the government’s biggest threat.
From Deputy Prime Minister to political prisoner.
But he didn’t give up.
From behind bars, he built a new party, Parti Keadilan, which later became PKR.
The rakyat believed in him.
They marched beside him.
They braved tear gas, arrests, and ridicule for him.
They campaigned for him.
They waited 22 years.
And in 2022, the moment came.
Anwar Ibrahim became Prime Minister of Malaysia.
The crowds cheered.
Hope returned.
It felt like the ending we all fought for.
But today it feels like all that was just a memory.
In just three years, everything has changed.
Anwar, once the champion of freedom of speech, now sends MCMC to silence critics.
Comment sections on Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram are all turned off.
Why?
Because of too many “suara sumbang.”
But these “suara sumbang” are not haters.
They are the same rakyat who waited, who voted, who believed.
Even his loudest supporters from 2022 are now silent.
No defence. No explanation. Just quiet.
22 years to reach the top.
But not even three years in, and the cracks are showing.
He hasn’t fallen yet.
But the rakyat are turning away.
The same streets that once chanted “PM we need”
now whisper new names
xPM
Madafaka
Bapa Potensi
It’s a long list, and growing by the day.
This isn’t the fall.
But it might be the beginning.
And if Anwar thinks silence means support,
he has forgotten the very lesson Reformasi taught us.
Because silence is how the rakyat starts to walk away.
