1mdb Bailout Only 2 Of 14 Pac Members From Dap Wong Blasts Najib

Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chair Wong Kah Woh has blasted Najib Abdul Razak by saying the ex-premier is trying to deflect from the committee's findings that Bank Negara funds were used to bail out 1MDB.

In a post on Facebook, he said Najib was trying to discredit the impartiality of the committee by linking it to the DAP.

"Najib is trying to get away with it by linking it to 'DAP propaganda'.

"The sixth prime minister must know that this PAC report is not the report of any one party.
"The PAC has 14 members. 3 Umno, 3 Bersatu, 2 DAP, 2 PAS, 1 GPS, 1 PKR, 1 Amanah, and 1 Warisan," said Wong (above) in the post today.
The committee recently confirmed suspicions that a plot of land Bank Negara purchased from the federal government for RM2.07 billion in 2017 was intended to pay off 1MDB's debts.
The PAC, which tabled its report on the matter, said Bank Negara paid RM2.07 billion for the land, which the Valuation and Property Services Department valued at RM1.422 billion.
Najib replied by saying this was DAP's effort to continue the "propaganda" they have been touting since 2017 before the 14th general election.

Wong, who is DAP's Ipoh Timur MP, blasted Najib for the attempt to discredit the impartiality of the PAC, pointing out that only a tiny minority of its members were from the DAP.
"In the PAC, all 14 of us, no matter what clothes we wear and which symbol we represent, are responsible to the people, with a mandate from the Dewan Rakyat.
"The PAC made the decision by consensus after discussions," said Wong in the post.
He took a dig at Najib, stating that maybe the PAC now does not work the same way as it did during the ex-prime minister's tenure.
"The PAC is now not cari makan (merely earning a living)," said Wong in reference to an infamous comment by former PAC chair Hasan Arifin in 2015.
"The PAC chairperson is now not editing the final PAC Report," Wong added, this time in reference to alleged interference on Najib's behalf in 2016.
"We are professional. Don't try to underestimate us. The PAC now is not like the PAC when Najib ruled.
"The PM7 (seventh prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad) did not intervene, PM8 (Muhyiddin Yassin) did not interfere, PM9 (Ismail Sabri Yaakob) did not intervene.
"I can invite Najib to come to the PAC every time the PAC has a meeting if he still doesn't understand - as long as it doesn't interfere with your court proceedings," Wong jabbed again.

An increasingly sarcastic Wong gave Najib the Valuation and Property Services Department's contact number so he could call them to verify the PAC's findings.
"The PAC is professional. The PAC got confirmation from the Chief Secretary of the Treasury where the sales money went.
"Read the PAC Report, end to end," he added, giving Najib the link. - Mkini
